Delivering a baby naturally (without any help from pain meds) is no small undertaking — and neither is delivering a baby with pain meds for that matter.
Mothers who decide to try for a natural birth usually have a variety of reasons, but some common reasons are fears about epidurals, wanting to feel more “in control,” or just simply not wanting to use medication.
So we’ll ask the question that’s on many pregnant mother’s mind:
Does natural birth hurt more than medicated birth?
The short answer:
It depends on who you ask.
Some women come away from labor and delivery feeling like it wasn’t any worse than a bad menstrual cramp. Other women feel like someone twisted all their organs together and tried to yank them out. Because the pain is different for every woman and every pregnancy, it really varies depending on your own personal experience.
So, should you do It?
Only you can answer that question, with the help of your OB/GYN. A lot of it comes down to your comfort level, but talking with your doctor about the best birth plan for you and your baby is important too.
