Having discipline to say no to some of your favorite foods, drinks and habits while pregnant can be extremely difficult. However, during these nine months, consider sacrificing some of these things for the beautiful baby growing inside of you.
Remember that each decision you make can affect your child’s health. Cutting back on some of your favorites doesn’t have to be forever, but at least while you are expecting.
Below is a short list of items you should completely ban from your mind and body for nine months:
- Stress (as much as possible)
- Heavy exercise (though mild physical activity is encouraged)
- Unhealthy food
- Alcohol
- Smoking/Tobacco
- Raw meat and unpasteurized cheeses
- X-rays
- Electrical blankets
- Fish high in mercury
- Extreme heat
Regarding alcohol, WebMD states:
Alcohol during pregnancy can have severe consequences. In fact, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder, caused by prenatal alcohol consumption, is on the rise, with some recent studies citing 24-48 cases per 1,000 pregnancies. It’s thought the actual number may be even higher, as the diagnosis can be missed.
So just say No for a short period of time! You and your little one will be glad that you did. Continue reading for more detailed information on how to eat healthy during pregnancy.
