First, you can breathe. That’s right breath – big breath in, big breath out.
There’s no need to panic if you’ve missed a day (or even two) of your birth control pills. You can usually get back on track quickly with very little concern that pregnancy will occur.
WebMD recommends this plan:
If you just missed one, take it as soon as you remember. If you don’t remember until the next day, go ahead and take 2 pills that day.
If you forget to take your pills for 2 days, take 2 pills the day you remember and 2 pills the next day. You will then be back on schedule.
When you’ve missed more than two days, your body will start trying to replace the synthetic hormones it was getting from the pill, which can cause your body to start ovulating again.
If you forgot to take your birth control and are concerned, you should stop stressing and simply schedule an appointment with your well woman care provider.
