Many well-known methods of natural birth pain management have been around since the 1940s and 1950s, and still remain popular today. One of the most common techniques is called the Bradley Method (also known as “Husband-Coached Childbirth”).
One of the most important techniques of the Bradley Method is helping fathers-to-be make sure the mother is eating a very healthy, high-protein diet and getting regular exercise to avoid complications or risks associated with poor nutrition, gaining too much weight during pregnancy, etc.
The other focus of the Bradley Method is to teach both the mother and father breathing and relaxation techniques that can be practiced before and during labor to provide natural pain relief. The father is relied on heavily to be the coach and cheerleader throughout the labor process.
